A the very beginning we suspected that there would arise the nay Sayers propagating our demise and perpetrating that they have a better idea.  To our surprise we have found this not to be the case.

In fact, the opposite has been true.  The initial response to the Eastside Digest has been tremendous and supports our reason for trying this.

We thought to start this venture because we felt, as many of our community say they felt, that the local newspapers neglected to cover this community we call East Monroe.  Sure, when the police stupidly corners someone in our neighborhood and instigates a shoot-out, we get front page coverage.  But what about everything else that is going on.

 What about the efforts of local parents trying to insure their children have a proper education?  Or, who are those guys that just bought the old Mignano's?  And, who are those folks that just opened up a new business?

These are just some of the questions we want to keep answered for our community.  If you live east of Monroe Street then this is your newsletter.  Every resident is welcomed to email potential articles.  You can even email events you feel are newsworthy.

We warn you.  This is not your everyday establishment run newsletter.  Many articles appearing here will definitely be controversial.  So enjoy, and feel free to contact us by email or  snail mail.
